Introduction to Photography for Homeschoolers Part 1 (Pilot)
6 Weeks starting November 3, 2021
Wednesdays 2:15PM-3:15PM
Enrollment: Min-6 Max-15

Fee: $65 per student plus a $5 materials fee

This 6 week long pilot program will introduce homeschoolers to the fundamentals behind photography. We will explore some of the history and science of photography including qualities of light and shadow, colour theory and the mechanics of a camera (both analog and digital formats). Once these basics have been covered, we will move into the concepts of the "exposure triangle" and look a bit in-depth at how Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO work to create an image. Finally, we will look at some basic composition theory such as focus, depth-of-field, perspective, leading lines, rule of thirds and more. All lessons will be adapted as-needed to students' abilities and interests but note that this course is geared towards students ages 8 and up. Students will learn through various demonstrations, hands-on activities, and mini assignments. A device such as a camera phone, ipad or digital camera will be useful in the second half of the classes, however if you do not have one, we may have extras available.
