Being a very last minute replacement for the originally hired photographer, I wasn't really sure what I was in for as I drove the 3 hours North towards Grassland, Alberta. I was meeting the bride and groom, Kandace and Lyle for the first time when I arrived, something I am not used to. Usually I have met the couples I shoot at least once or twice and have had several conversations via telephone, emails or Facebook. I knew very little about the couple, the theme, or the venues I was heading towards that morning. I must say it was a very pleasant surprise to meet the stunning Kandace moments before she was to get into her amazing gown. We had time for a few getting ready shots and some details shots of her jewellery, and bouquet as she made her final preparations to meet her groom. The theme was perfect for a wedding. Classic and elegant meets just a bit of Alberta "Redneck" Style. From bejeweled shotgun shell accents in the bouquets and boutonnieres to Lyle's custom-designed camouflage tuxedo, no detail was missed. The weather even cooperated for a beautiful outdoor ceremony at a beautifully landscaped family farm before formal photos out in the canola fields that Lyle would harvest himself in the fall.
