Back in the spring of 2013 I had the opportunity to witness and photograph an up-and-coming singer/songwriter record her first EP. Sauvé MacBean's soulful record "Movin' On" spins tales of heartbreak and healing, and coming into your own because of, and in spite of love. The catchy title track tells the story of a woman who has bounced back from a resentful relationship and has a new-found confidence in herself. On the other end of the spectrum, the poignant lamenting for a love that wasn't meant to be revealed in "Right from the start" leaves the listener hanging on to every agonizing note, wondering what could have been if she could have just revealed her feelings towards her beloved. And then there is "I Promise, I Swear" that speaks of true love and commitment and is quite well-suited to be a wedding song (*HINT to my upcoming wedding couples!).
Sauvé's music cannot be pigeon-holed into one distinct genre. There are flavours of country, pop, jazz and folk and probably hints of a few other genres that a true music critic would pick up on. (I'm just a photographer after all.) Regardless of genre, her music will move you. And soothe you. And quite likely break your heart.
After much anticipation, the EP is finally available on iTunes and I highly recommend that you download it and then why not also follow her on Facebook and her website? Oh! and if her 5 original songs aren't enough to satisfy your auditory palette, you can also check out some awesome cover songs on her YouTube channel. Before you run away to stalk this fantastic young lady on the internet however, take a minute to check out some of the photos I took of her during the recording process, and back during the warmer days of late spring in some gorgeous cherry-blossom photos from a shoot we did shortly after the recording wrapped up.
